Careers (continued)

Our Careers and Enterprise network advisor, Hannah Martin at Audience systems, supported two year 8 trips to her company where students were able to find out more about project management, engineering and all of the stages that are involved in manufacturing and distributing their products. Read more about this on the year 8 page of the newsletter.

On the 19th July year 12 students took part in their ‘Bigger Interview’. Students had an opportunity to give a 10 minute talk to a member of staff and external employer about what they had learnt from their work experience the previous week. They spoke about the challenges they faced during this time as well as their successes and considered what they could take from this experience and apply to future jobs and training. This event challenged students to practice their public speaking skills and responding to unknown questions, a skill that many will need to develop as they head in to the workplace and further education. Staff and employers were very impressed with the mature approach of the Year 12 students in undertaking this challenging task and hope that students will take on board the feedback they received and use it effectively to pursue their career ambitions.
