FOREWORD Dear Parents
It is a privilege and an honour to be able to present to you our Summer Edition of our Newsletter. As we say good-bye to another stunning academic year of success it is hard to work out where the time has gone! It only seems like yesterday that we were starting on our journey and we have really managed to pack so much into such a short space of time. We never take this for granted; it is only hard
work every day that makes this happen.
I am writing this after experiencing our 5th annual M:Fest celebration. This is quite a stunning event that we put on each year for our school community. We were delighted to welcome over 300 of our primary students to experience this with us this year. The M:Fest is a real demonstration of how wonderful our school community is; over 1300 people on the school field enjoying the experience and reward. Our students know that whatever environment they find themselves in, they know how to conduct themselves to the highest of standards.
Traditional ethos, modern outlook.
As you read through this Newsletter it is hard believe that we deliver all that we do as a non-fee paying school. The breadth and depth of opportunity is second-to-none across the school. We strive to provide the types of experiences that stretch and challenge our young people, fostering a passion of and love for learning.
World-class building programmes.
We stand on the final cusp of transformation for our school. We are about to fully start our extraordinary building programme across the site, which will see an investment of around £9 million over the next 18 months. This will enhance Maths, Science, Technology, Computing, and Sports to name a few areas. Please be

reassured that your daughter’s or son’s education will not be adversely affected during this period of
time. National School of the year.
As the school year comes to a close we were delighted to be recognised for our outstanding work supporting careers education and helping young people into the world of work through being named National School of the Year in the by the Careers & Enterprise Company. This was a truly remarkable recognition of not only the academic successes of our students, but also the way that we help students develop the aptitudes to use these.
I do hope that you enjoy this Newsletter and take time to read about all the fantastic things that the Matravers family have been up to. I know you’ll agree that Matravers continues to be a very special place and we are quite unique in all that we offer for our students.
We demonstrate that traditional and independent approaches combined with state-sector rigour support our students to thrive and succeed.
My best wishes for a wonderful summer and thank you for your continued support and help. I look forward with pride towards another fantastic academic year next year.
Dr Simon Riding Headteacher
