Dance (continued) PERFORMING ARTS AWARDS
It is that time again when the Dance department joins forces with the rest of the Performing Arts to celebrate some of the best moments from the last academic year. Dance really struggled this year to choose who our performers and nominees would be as we had so many amazing names to choose from. We are very excited to celebrate the dance talents of so many students at Matravers, and it will absolutely be one of the best nights in the school calendar. Congratulations to all those who have been chosen to perform and or nomi- nated for an award, we think you are all stars!
3D DANCE SHOW
What a huge success 3D was for our dancers and the department! We were so pleased with the number of friends and family that came to support our youngest dancers and it was very clear that the performances were well worth the visit. We have excellent perfor- mances from our KS3 Dance companies Endurance and KickStart as well as amazing classwork from all year groups. What also stood out on the evening were the KS3 dancers who performed in year 11 and year 12 BTEC and GCSE choreographies. The talent, dedica- tion and commitment was incredible and all acted with such professionalism and focus. We cannot wait to see what the next few years bring to our dancers who only go from strength to strength. Huge well done to all students who took part in the show, we are incredibly proud of you and bring on next year!
‘GYM STARS’, CBBC
This month, the episode of ‘Gym Stars’ that featured our amazing A Level Dancer Cameron Sinden, aired on the BBC. It was incredibly exciting to see the school featured in this episode and we loved reliving every moment of this year’s Dance in Action. In the episode you can see the show with various performances shown as well as behind the scenes and rehearsals for the big show event. This is incredibly exciting for the depart- ment and to have our dancers on BBC television show was incredible. We would like to give a huge thank you to Cameron for getting us involved in such an amazing project.
