Humanities (continued)

we first arrived, the famous river crossing! It was a lot of fun although the fear of plunging into the river was very real, of course it was not without a small disaster of some sort where Caleb forgot to let go of the rope as he soared across and gained himself a lovely rope burn, luckily for everyone else it meant on the walk back we got to stop next to the river a few times so that Caleb could cool off his hand while the rest of us jumped from rock to rock attempting not to fall in. We also had another lovely surprise on our walk back when we strayed across what appeared to be a small petting zoo where not 1 but three fully feathered peacocks roamed freely around us.

Again after dinner we went to watch another fantastic sunset and then headed back for the final time to our accommodation. However, this was a Matravers trip and there was no way we could go a full three days without something completely ridiculous happening and this event finally came to us on the journey home where we found our road blocked by a rather large herd of cows who then proceeded to slowly turn towards us before completely charging at our bus rocking it from side to side as they barged their way through the lane. I’m not sure what was funnier, our reactions to this sudden cow tsunami or Colin laughing at our petrified faces. We did safely make it back but I don’t think I’ll ever be the same.

Finally, it was day 4, the 20th of April and time for home. We had a quick stop at one of our case study locations, the town of Lympstone where we explored the small alleys and the harbour before grabbing a quick diet coke and then heading home.

All in all, an eventful, fun, slightly traumatising trip that of course was as informative, interesting and inspiring as we were told it would be, Year 12s of 2019 you are in for a treat!
