DANCE GCSE & A LEVEL EXAMS


The Dance Department want to wish a huge congratu- lations and well done for the weeks and weeks of hard work students of Dance have put into their GCSE and A Level theory exams. The new specifications mean that the increase in focus on theory in dance has resulted in hours spent revising and learning key pieces of chore- ography. We are very proud of all of our GCSE and A Level dancers and wish them all the best in the future. Dance may not be their chosen vocation but Dance has taught our students creativity, team work, management of time and organisation as well as physical strength and confidence to perform. We only hope they continue with the skills that Dance allows for students who study it into KS4 and KS5.


WESTBURY YOUTH DANCE AWARDS


Tuesday 19th of June saw the annual Westbury Youth Awards held at Matravers School. The evening aimed to celebrate the achievements of local youth who par- ticipate in the community and inspire others. It was an honour for the Dance Department to have gained two nominations with the ‘Team Arts Awards’ and ‘Indi- vidual Arts Awards’. Endurance Dance company were named winners of the team award and A Level student Ellie Sturgess, the winner of the individual award. Not only this, but both performed as part of the evening’s entertainment, and audiences were in awe of their tal- ent. We are incredibly proud of our winning students and a huge congratulations to them as they are well deserved, worthy winners.
