Art & Design (continued) A TRIP TO THE DORSET COAST
On the 15th of May two photography classes in year 10 went for a lovely visit to the beach. On a very hot and sunny day we visited Beer and Lyme Regis on the Dorset Coast.
First we visited Beer, which was a small pebble beach which is used for harbour for small boats, on the beach there was a range of abandoned boats and working boats, fishing equipment, deck chairs and small cafés where you could buy a good ice-cream.
We took a range of photos which included views of the beach and many of the boats using the skills we had developed in class within our Landscape unit.
Lyme Regis is a different beach, with sand and a tourist feel, there were many shops and arcades along the front. When we first arrived we walked along the beach front to the harbour end, here we could take pictures of any of the boats, life boat centre, skeletons of fish heads, prawn baskets and fishing huts and buildings. At the other end of beach we were able to take images in shops and on the sandy beach.
The best thing about the day was being out of the classroom and being able to complete a shoot in a great environment, it was very hot and many ice creams and cold drinks help keep us cool.
At 4 o’clock we returned to our coach for our journey home which took 2 hours knowing our cameras were filled with lots of images for us to use in our practical exams. We returned to school car park by 6pm, very tired from the hot sunny day at the beach.
