INCLUSION WE ARE ALIENS @BRISTOL

The Inclusion team had a great time at the “We the Curious” science and animation centre this term. It was a real feast for the imagination with lots of hands on exploration. From the exhausting human hamster wheel, to sitting inside a beating womb. You could place yourself in a rainbow bubble tube, or become a free floating flying astronaut.

“When we went to We the Curious I enjoyed the We the Aliens show, an all the stuff to do. It was nice to learn and have fun at the same time. It was nice to socialise with the younger years too.” Ethan, Year 9

The Wallace and Gromit exhibit upstairs provided lots of opportunities to experiment with stop motion animation. The students used 2D and 3D objects to make some amazing 2 minute movies. They were then able to edit, replay and send them to themselves through email.

There was an eye boggling STEM centre and the students enjoyed making swirling wind turbines from old junk, and elongated pipe mazes which ran criss- crossed around a large wall.

We finished off the visit with a 3D animated show called, We the Aliens, which took us spinning and whirling through the galaxies, exploring deep space and the fascinating idea, that we may not be alone. We all screamed aloud and jumped when the huge scorpions tail flicked out at us.

“I loved the trip. I was so excited I couldn’t sleep the night before. The best bit was the Planetarium. It felt like it was coming right at us, so I took my glasses off! It was an amazing day!” Xenai, Year 7

“We the curious was fun, there was lots to do and I was never bored. My favourite part was the 3D Alien Experience. But I liked the interactive parts, both upstairs and downstairs.” Emma, Year 9
