Year 7 (continued)

did something wrong I would put myself down instead of learning from my mistakes. Now I’m more open and can be very ambitious. Also I am better at learning

from my mistakes and make a better situation out of them. I also go a lot easier on myself than I used to. Matravers has taught me to challenge myself and to keep trying even if I do find things hard.”

Erin Beeson

“I have enjoyed every part of my first year at Matravers. I have got stuck into a wide range of clubs, like trampolining and KickStart Dance. I have even

performed at the West Wilts Dance Festival. I have also enjoyed the different lessons that we didn’t do at Primary School like Drama and Dance. The rewards trips were amazing as well. I have been to Gangsta Granny and Go Ape. I have enjoyed music opportunities like performing at M-Fest in a singing and ukulele group.”

Courtneigh Meadows 7.4, MISS STAFFORD

I have been consistently impressed with how 7.4 have behaved and tackled life at Matravers for the past year. It’s been great to see them grow as individuals and develop close bonds of friendship. 7.4 have taken a really conscientious attitude to their learning and that is evident through the progress made. There have been many laughs throughout the year and I feel lucky to have shared my first year at Matravers School with this tutor group. I look forward to spending the next year with them and continuing their journey! Well done 7.4!

“I have really enjoyed the lessons involving I.C.T, the resources are great and the teachers are nice!”

Daniel Abbott-Wood

“I have enjoyed all the celebration assemblies as it’s really fun to celebrate achievements. They are also really interesting assemblies.”

Gracie Osmond

“I really enjoyed the Gangsta Granny trip, and the celebration assemblies. I have also really liked writing in our journals every week as it is nice to write about our achievements.”

Chloe Patton-Cuff

“The best thing about Year 7 was when we went on the Gangsta Granny trip. I have also joined trampolining club because we got to learn some cool tricks.”

Tamzin Ball

“This year has been fun and eventful! I have enjoyed after school clubs such as rounders and dance. The disco was really fun and so were the school trips. The teachers are really welcoming and supportive, which meant I could settle in quickly. I can’t wait to spend my

next few years at Matravers School!” Lilly Dimambro

“This year at school has helped me progress by allowing me to set myself goals. The positive mental attitude I have developed has allowed me to really believe in myself, with over 120 achievement points and postcards home. I feel that this year has been my best with regards to my academic achievement.”

Charlie Brewer

“The best year yet! My favourite part of year 7 was the disco, it was so fun and loads of my friends enjoyed it to! I’ve had lots of fun throughout the year with my friends, teachers and afterschool activities.”

Carrick Goodall 7.5, MRS WALLBRIDGE

It has been a privilege to be the tutor for 7.5 this year. They have really lived up to their chosen motto of “Making Dreams Come True”. We have grown as a tutor group and each member of our group has had an opportunity to show their individuality, creativity and resilience. From assemblies that they have designed and delivered to their activities at the Year 7 Summer Fayre there has been a whole range of opportunities to shine. I am very proud of the efforts that they have made both academically and as individuals. I can’t wait to see how they continue to grow and develop over the summer and what they will bring to Year 8!

“The school year has been amazing so far! From sport and performing arts opportunities to fun learning in lessons. My best memory of the year so far was passing the first round in an athletics competition and attending the championships in high jump.”

Lily Morris,

“I have enjoyed being in a tutor group with my friends, both new and old. We have fun together and lots of laughter”

Ruby Ladd

“This term I was able to attend the athletics championships and represent Matravers School. I came in 3rd place in the shotput. I really enjoyed going to events like these and I was very impressed with Bath University.”
