PERFORMING ARTS

PERFORMING ARTS CELEBRATION EVENING

On Thursday 5 July we were delighted to host our annual Performing Arts Celebration Evening. This event is always a wonderful opportunity to recognise and celebrate the efforts and achievements of our students across the Performing Arts at Matravers through revisiting some stand out performances from the year and the presentation of awards.

The event was a great success with awards being presented to students in Dance, Drama and Music across a range of categories and a number of extremely high quality performances from each discipline. Particular highlights of the programme included George Howard and Amy Wheeler performing an excerpt from the Shakespearean classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream, SAIL 4 Harmony performing their own original song I See You and Ellie Sturgess’ Myoclonic Jerk which she choreographed for her A Level Dance group choreography exam this year. We were also delighted to welcome back Harriet Long, a former student, for a superb guest appearance back on the Matravers stage.

In addition to the presentation of subject awards throughout the event, the evening culminated with the presentation of three overall Performing Arts trophies.

This year the very deserving winners of these awards were:

Performance Support Artist of the Year - Millie Brisdon

Jenny Clements Award for Contribution to the Performing Arts - Joe Medway Performing Artist of the Year - Dylan Jones

It is clear that the Performing Arts at Matravers continue to go from strength to strength and we are incredibly proud of our truly remarkable students. Our congratulations go to all the award winners and nominees as well as those who performed during the evening, we’re already looking forward to next year!

Mr Clark and the Performing Arts Team.
