Music (continued)
The feedback was that it was an incredible experience and one the students would love to take part in next year. Full marks to Mr. Griffiths for not getting lost in London!
SONGWRITING PROJECT
Back in October, myself and 2 other girls (Shannon McGinn and Isabella Woodman) formed a group and performed at the Young Musician of the Year competition. Our band name was SAIL 4 HARMONY.
By the time we did the workshops our group of 3 had grown into a group of 5. We started out our song writing in 2 separate groups but then Rosanna taught us how to put our ideas together to form one song. She also worked with us to structure our song. She helped us to come up with suitable chords and strumming patterns that worked for the song and she helped the singers create and perform the harmonies that are a key feature of our band’s style.
We were awarded the Leos Endeavour award which recognises potential and came with around £200 to spend on some lessons to help us learn more about the kind of music we want to make.
These lessons took place on Fridays in term 5. We had a total of 9 hours of time with local singer/songwriter Rosanna Schura. She helped us to write a couple of songs and then we spent our final session recording one of them in the recording studio.
We were really happy with what we created and didn’t expect it to turn out as good as it did.
We now hope to create more songs using what we have learned and keep on performing to make our sound even bigger and better.
