It’s the end of another school year and there has been lots happening in the LRC.

All the students that read 8,000 words or more will have their names put into a prize draw, with the chance to win a £10 book token and a new reading book.
We have also had lots of students becoming Word Millionaires this year.

As we go to press, the students of Year 7 are taking part in Read-a-Thon. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to raise money for some fantastic charities, whilst reading.
Last year we raised £80 and we hope to beat that this year.
READ TO RUSSIA
Students have been also been Reading to Russia has part of our latest LRC competition. As it’s 8,000 miles between here and Russia, who are hosting the world cup, we challenged students to read 8,000 words.

We had our final tea read of the term in May and it was fantastic. We had a great turnout with lots of parents enjoying tea and cake and a good book. Chloe Seviour in 7.3 attended with her Dad and her younger sister. She said “I think that it was good to get a chance to read with my Dad and it was fun for my sister to see what she can do when she comes to Matravers.”
