Year 7 (continued)
YEAR GROUP COMMENTS 7.1, MISS CUMMINGS
7.1 have been an absolute pleasure to tutor. This class is full of so many wonderful personalities and very talented individuals who, without a doubt, will have a fantastic future at Matravers. They have worked so hard all year with tremendous determination and have fully immersed themselves in every aspect of tutor times.
“My favourite moment of the year was when I
performed at the Lions concert and when I took part in the choir concerts. I have really enjoyed this year because all of the teachers have really supported me and everyone has been very kind. I have made a lot of new friends and Matravers is a good place to be.”
Skye Greatwood
“My favourite, but most nerve-racking, thing I’ve ever done is talk to my new teachers and find my new classes as I met new people but had to talk to my new teachers who I’ve never met.”
Callum Ball 7.2, MR BUNCE
7.2 have had an incredible year. As the newest member of the tutor group I was delighted with the warm reception that they gave me back in February and they were very quick to share their enthusiasm for school life with me as I settled in. Over the months that followed they went from strength to strength, and as we approach the summer holidays and I look back over the time that has passed since I started at Matravers one thing remains abundantly clear – every single individual in 7.2 has grown and flourished to become positive, upbeat, conscientious and enthusiastic members of the Matravers community. They have done this by supporting and encouraging each other (and me at times!) and I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements. Well done on a fantastic year 7.2, and here’s to more adventures and further successes in Year 8!
“I have had an excellent time as a Year 7 at Matravers. It has been a full year of fun and I have loved all the opportunities I have had this year.
I was so pleased that an essay-writing competition became available and even happier that I won the KS3 section! I was also able to go to see Gangsta Granny at theatre as a reward trip! These are just a few of the amazing things that I have been involved with this year.
Finally, I have really enjoyed all the rewards I have
received in school. I was a ‘Word Millionaire’ and have received my core values badge. This has really made
www.matravers.wilts.sch.uk me feel that Year 7 has been a success! I am now
looking forward to M-Fest, Sports Day and the rest of my time at Matravers.”

“This year has been an amazing start to my time at Matravers. I’ve enjoyed loads of great experiences and tried new things that I didn’t have the chance to do before I came here.
I’ve really enjoyed the dance opportunities here with the after school clubs, the dance festival and the different showcases we have performed in at the school.
I also loved going on the Science trip. It was a chance to look at some really interesting STEM experiments and activities which were amazing.
The Year 7 trip to see Gangsta Granny was a great day; the show was really cool and funny and it was a super end to the Easter term.
The celebration assemblies have been an opportunity to celebrate all we’ve achieved as Year 7s so far and I can’t wait for the next one.
All in all, Year 7 has been a great year… Bring on Year 8!” Amber Gates
7.3, MR PRICE
To say I’m proud of 7.3 and the way they have successfully negotiated their first year here at Matravers is a colossal understatement. They almost seem ‘old hands’ at the daily and weekly routines. I am so incredibly lucky and honoured to be their tutor, they individually and collectively make me proud nearly every day. We wish next year’s 7.3 good luck; they have a tough act to follow! Bring on 8.3!
“The best thing about year 7 was when I was put into 7.3 because it is an amazing tutor group with lots of amazing people in it. I also enjoyed going on the ice skating trip that our tutor group won for being the
group with least behaviour points because it was really fun; ice skating with all my friends.”
Kiera Vercoe
“The year’s gone well. I’ve completed all homework and enjoyed every class I’ve been to. All the trips have been fun, such as the ice skating trip with my friends. I have met a lot of new people who have now become my best friends.”
Elsbeth Paton “When I came to Matravers I was a sensitive character and was very tough on myself. Whenever I
