Beyond the states that have already passed but not yet implemented their legislation (Arizona, Maryland, New York, Wyoming), FanDuel's Director of Government Affairs, Andrew Winchell, believes there is a good possibility some or all of Connecticut, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Ohio will pass sports betting legislation before the end of the year. Speaking ahead of SBC Digital North America, Andrew says it is 'realistic' that online sports betting will be available to 65 per cent of the US population by 2025.

Te return of international major sporting tournaments – Euro 2020, the Copa América, the Summer Olympics, Wimbledon – will be a major boost for sportsbook operators looking to harness heightened levels of fan excitement in order to enhance engagement and create revenue through a broad sports calendar, especially after a three-year hiatus from the last major international football tournament.


BtoBet's Founder, Alessandro Fried, believes these are critical tournaments for bookmakers after a very difficult year to attract, engage and retain customers’ long term. Continuing the acquisition theme, Victor Pronk, Commercial Director at Incentive Games, says operators need to follow up with their acquisition efforts to make sure they retain any new players they onboard off the back of a major sporting event. Without a plan in place to keep new players engaged, they will likely be lost.
