FRANCE – French casino giant Groupe Partouche has confirmed the reopening of all of its 38 French casinos on May 19, though only slot machines and electronic forms of table games are accessible. French casinos are reopening at 35 per cent of capacity, closing at 9pm under a curfew with catering only allowed on outside terraces.

Capacity could rise to 50 per cent on June 9, opening until 11pm with interior catering areas open once again, with a limit of six people per table. From June 30 the general lifting of the curfew is expected. In the event of a localised deterioration in the health situation, this schedule may be revised in the territories concerned.

Partouche’s Swiss casinos reopened on April 19 without a curfew, but under restrictions (10sq.m per person, no catering and a smoking ban in smoking rooms). Its casino in Djerba, Tunisia reopened May 17 and Ostend in Belgium, will reopen on June 9.

SWITZERLAND – With the land-based casinos unable to receive guests for 101 days, Switzerland's Grand Casino Luzern Group felt the consequences of the pandemic in 2020 although the successful online casino mycasino.ch created an economic balance. The land-based casino generated significantly less income in the 2020 financial year with GGR falling by 35.6 per cent to CHF 24.84m. In contrast, the online casino generated gross gaming revenue of CHF69m, up from CHF 8.93m.

The operator said: "The coronavirus pandemic severely affected the traditional casino business and gastronomy of the Grand Casino Luzern Group in 2020. The closings and the pandemic-related operational restrictions gave little planning security. Many employees were on short-time work. However, no employees were made redundant and salaries were 100 per cent offset despite short-time working in the first wave.”

MALTA – Former ComeOn boss, Lahcene Merzoug, has been named CEO of Betpoint Group. Prior to his appointment, Merzoug spent two years as CEO of ComeOn Group and prior to that was Chief Marketing

Officer at Green Media, Mr Green´s internal media agency. He has also held senior roles at Evoke Gaming, Bonnier Gaming and Red Bet, bringing a wealth of expertise and experience to Betpoint Group.

SWITZERLAND – Sportradar has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire InteractSport, a sports data and technology company with partnerships across a range of sporting organisations with a particular depth and expertise in cricket.
