Set in a world of childhood dreams, Justin and the Knights of Valour is a tale about friendship, honour and courage, which sees a young boy become a man as he embarks on a quest to become a knight. The $30 million CGI feature film will hit cinema screens this August. Distributed by eOne, the film has an all-star line-up of voice talent including Freddie Highmore, Antonio Banderas, Charles Dance, Rupert Everett, Barry Humphries David Walliams and Julie Walters. Justin and the Knights of Valour has already secured international pre-sales in over 120 countries worldwide. eOne will be supporting the UK theatrical launch with a heavyweight marketing campaign across all media platforms. To coincide with the film release, eOne is currently building a licensing programme to launch at retail Summer 2013 and is keen to speak to potential partners for merchandise targeting boys and girls.


Paddington Bear has enjoyed new product launches, prestigious retail partnerships and awards success in the last 12 months. 2012 saw


the publication of two new Paddington books by Michael Bond, and his classic character was the star of a range of e-books from Harper Collins and Britannia themed DVDs from Abbey Home Media. In March Paddington won the BAA’s Britain’s Favourite Ever Animated Character award. The marmalade-loving bear was also the star of an exclusive new range of products launched in Harrods and Harrods International in November. Mugs, bags, stationery and Christmas decorations featuring two styles of Paddington artwork, including designs from Japanese designer Shinzi Katoh, are included in the Harrods line-up. Hamleys showcased Paddington during the Jubilee celebrations where he featured in the window as well as the new ground floor souvenir area, and a brand new Paddington-themed shop opened for Christmas 2012 at Paddington Station. The growth continues for Paddington in 2013 with the launch of new products across categories including crafting, calendars, dress-up, gift and stationery, books, Build-A-Bear Workshop and a range of pre-school toys and puzzles from Rainbow Designs. Also launching worldwide in January will be a new games app featuring five mini Paddington games. Anticipation is increasing for fans as they look forward to the first Paddington feature film from StudioCanal. Set to launch in November 2014, the film is being produced by David Heyman and directed by Paul King. A new film style guide will launch in Spring 2013.


Superman is ready to soar onto the big screen in June 2013 in Man of Steel to inject yet more energy into the evergreen franchise. Global partners include Mattel and Rubie’s, who have supported the Superman licence for more than a decade and are now supporting Man of Steel to bring the upcoming blockbuster film to life in the toy aisles. Mattel will offer a robust movie-inspired toy line including action figures, vehicles and playsets, while Rubie’s Costume Co. is designing a range based on the new costume designs from the film. Lego, Hallmark and HarperCollinsPublishers are also global licensing


partners. Man of Steel will be supported by a retail launch across Europe beginning this Spring featuring never-before-seen toy lines, multi-demo-soft lines and sophisticated food and promotion programmes. The Superman brand offers a year-round opportunity. Beyond the film, Superman has maintained his power at retail through apparel, accessories, stationery, promotions and publishing collections, all built on the power of the S-shield. As well as targeting boys, WBCP has re-imagined


the Supergirl S-shield as a symbol for today’s empowered girl. The highly-anticipated film will help drive


the Superman franchise to new heights, offering licensees and retailers new opportunities to reach fans of all ages in 2013 and 2014, and beyond.


The first film from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson in the highly-anticipated The Hobbit Trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, wowed cinemagoers around the world when it was released in December 2012. Two further films set for release in December 2013; The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and July 2014; The Hobbit: There and Back Again. The Hobbit Trilogy tells a continuous story set


in Middle-earth before The Lord of the Rings. This prequel follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into a quest by wizard Gandalf the Grey to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the dragon Smaug. Joining a company of thirteen dwarves, their journey takes them into the Wild; meeting Goblins and Orcs, Wargs and Sorcerers, leading them to where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever: Gollum.
