Redan Alchemy gets busy with Sooty
Redan Alchemy has signed Sooty to appear in its best- selling children’s magazines and to explore licensing opportunities for the iconic bear and his best friends Sweep and Soo. The Sooty Show already has a raft of successful licensing activity; the current TV show runs continually on weekdays on CiTV and is scheduled to do so throughout 2013. Abbey Home Media’s September DVD release was number one in the ASDA family DVD chart, and the newly-released Christmas DVD is currently Abbey’s highest-selling title on Amazon. The ‘Sooty Paint’ colouring App made the Guardian’s top 30 best apps and Steiff’s collectable Sooty, Sweep and Soo bears have sold out in 2012. Sooty has also confi rmed residencies at Butlins,
Pontins, and Cadbury World in 2013, and the 2012 annual Sooty Christmas Show at the Duchess Theatre in London is set to reach a record audience of over 8,000 individuals. Richard Cadell, owner and presenter of The Sooty Show, said: “It’s exciting times for Sooty, with a new series of the current show in development for CiTV, Sooty, Sweep and Soo look set to benefi t hugely from their exposure on TV and in Redan’s award- winning Fun To Learn magazines. Redan Publishing specialises in identifying the
strongest pre-school characters around and it’s fantastic that they have seen the potential in
Sooty. I’m really looking forward to developing the licensing
side of the brand with the Alchemy team in 2013.”
