Winning Moves UK has appointed David Ripley as chief operating officer to support the company’s


push into new products, licenses and territories. The new role will cover general operations, supply chain capability, product sourcing and online trading. David brings fifteen years of commercial experience to Winning Moves having previously held a variety of commercial leadership roles at both Tesco and Woolworths, and has recently completed a three and a half-year assignment as a senior member of the commercial team at London 2012.


Mookie has appointed David Fogel as a business director. David brings with him years of experience in the toy trade with his involvement in Toy Stack and Hamleys, as well as his sharp eye for product. Guy Orr, director at Mookie, said: “It’s great to have someone on board with David’s experience, particularly his knowledge and insight from a retailer’s perspective. This appointment will undoubtedly enable us to understand our retailers’ requirements much better.”


Fiona Wright will take up the role of UK and Ireland general manager for Lego UK. Effective from 1st January 2013, Fiona will be responsible for the total sales function in the territory. Fiona has worked for the toy firm since 2000 where she joined as a brand director for Europe North. Developing strong sales and marketing experience saw advancement to national account director, marketing director and most recently, head of sales. Prior to joining the Lego Group, Fiona has worked for The Walt Disney Company, Hasbro and Kellogg Company. Current general manger, Drew Brazer, is leaving to resume his original role as VP of sales for Lego in North America.


Mimex B.V has reappointed Sinclair Ronald to act as agent to head up the sales of the WWF range of plush, following the change of distributor for the UK and Irish retail market.


DKL Marketing has appointed Toyin Oseni as its new sales and marketing administrator. Toyin will be responsible for social networking and growing consumer PR as well as being the link to trade activities. Toyin brings her previous experience of social network marketing to grow this important side of the business. DKL has also appointed Carole Coupland as its new agent for the Northern area. Carole will be exclusively selling all of DKL’s ranges; Hama Beads, Corolle Dolls, Wonderworld Wooden Toys, Miniland Educational and Velcro Kids Creative Play range from the 1st January 2013. Carole brings with her a wealth of experience selling to the toy trade.

director of Home, Garden, Toys, Pets, DIY and Automotive, will be moving into a new role heading up the Media team. As a result, John Boumphrey, currently responsible for Music and DVD, will be coming in as director, Indoor, with responsibilities for the Toys, Home and Appliances categories. Ulrike Wingenter-Davey, currently category leader for Toys, is moving to Beijing in the new year to join Amazon’s China Retail team, and Victoria Nelson, currently category leader for Jewellery and Watches, will take over as category leader for Toys in January.


Simon Cheng, chairman of Toy State, has announced the appointment of Laibond Cheng as SVP international sales, who will be responsible for the sales and marketing of international markets except the Americas and report to Will Coleburn, who has been promoted to president of global sales and marketing.


Meanwhile, Robert Mann, former EMEA president at Toy State, has announced his departure from the company for a more familiar role within the Nursery/Infant market. Robert commented that he was sorry to be leaving Toy State, and said the staff and distributors had made him very welcome in the company. Robert will be joining Munchkin Lindam as managing director EMEA including UK.


Footballmania’s UK team has been strengthened with the addition of Mark McDonnell as head of sales and Adrian Mayes as commercial manager. Mark has many years experience within the character market having worked for Zap, Hy- Pro International and MUML. Adrian has previously worked at Smoby and Golden Bear and will be responsible for key national accounts, marketing and licensing.


Advanstar Licensing, producer of Brand Licensing Europe and Licensing Expo, has appointed Darren Brechin as event director for BLE. Darren brings more than 10 years of experience in the exhibition industry, including event director positions held at DMG events (Canada) and IIR Exhibitions. He will oversee the running of BLE, including strategic planning, growth, sales and day-to-day management. Darren said: “I am delighted to be taking up this position on one of the UK’s fastest-growing and most successful exhibitions. I am looking forward to working with the team to build on the phenomenal success of the show that took place in October, which was the best attended in its 14-year history.”
