an overhaul, moving these characters from traditional historical designs into an imaginary world. Divided into Griffons and Dragons, each side contains characteristics integral to their persona. New fi gures include dragons, horses and riders complete with weapons such as swords, axes and crossbows. Sticking with a fantasy theme, The World of Bayala introduces a new Ice Elf- themed collection in late 2013. The new elves are ideal additions to any collection and feature eight new fi gures displaying their intricate designs and delicate translucent wings. The World of History will also see new Dinosaurs. Released in May, each fi gure is designed to be child-friendly, and features colourful paintwork that is hand-crafted with a moveable lower jaw for the carnivore. Two brand new series of Smurfs will be released in 2013. In May, just in time for the new Smurfs movie, six new characters will be available, including two naughty Smurfs. In January, eight new fi gures are released in a new series called Occasion Smurfs, featuring Party Smurfette, Bride and Groom Smurf, and Birthday Smurf amongst others. Schleich’s Farm Life collection will take a decorative turn with fi ve braided horses. These new fi gures include a Lipizzaner Mare and Foal that are both decorated with braided manes and tails.

Ravensburger’s range of children’s licensed puzzles is teaming with the latest characters, from Tree Fu Tom to Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and everything in between; including Disney Monsters University, Finding Nemo, Bin Weevils, Club Penguin, Sophia the First and Doc McStuffi ngs. Constructed from strong plastic hinged pieces, the fi nished puzzles are sturdy and fun to complete. The adult puzzle range is developed mostly by the UK design team and has more than 50 new designs across all piece counts. The Aquarelle range has been refreshed for budding watercolour
artists. The simple and effective painting technique is ideal for ages eight years and up. Science X is a brand new science experiment kit range, with activities aimed at children aged eight years and up. With three different box sizes, it is an ideal introduction to science, or for the more experienced science enthusiast.

Bigjigs Rail has also gained the licence for the Flying Scotsman. The Flying Scotsman railway set contains 38 pieces including the iconic steam engine and carriages, wooden track and decorative accessories.
