Competition celebrates Meccano’s 10,000th Facebook Like

As the page’s 10,000th ‘like’, one Facebook user launched a competition to celebrate this online milestone. ‘The Race’ is a digital game on Facebook. Anyone liking Meccano’s Facebook page gets two free credits to take part in ‘The Race’, with the opportunity to win an iPhone 5 and Meccano goodies. Competitors choose from four Meccano vehicles and attempt to launch the vehicle by adjusting the

angle of launch and amount of thrust. Sue Barratt, country manager, Meccano Toys (UK), said: “It’s amazing that in the space of just six months over 10,000 people have ‘liked’ our new Facebook page. “The Race is our way of giving them some online fun – and the chance to win some great prizes, whilst building their affi nity with our brand. If people want more chances to win, they have to get their friends on Facebook to ‘like’ our page so it’s a very smart viral campaign to build our presence and social media visibility.” ‘The Race’ follows Meccano’s FX virtual reality iPhone App and YouTube movie ‘Invasion has begun’.
