interest rates whilst not getting lost in the mountains, so I would like Sarah Wang and Ismael Vasquez to receive certificates for their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition success whilst Sarah and Ismael join Bonny Wang and Christopher McKenna in celebrating their win in the Bank of England Interest Rate Challenge. I invite all 4 to the stage.
Another great development over recent years has been the burgeoning CCF Contingent under the leadership of Captain Bohl. There have been over 50 cadets involved this year enjoying two weekend camps in November and March, a skiing trip to Scotland in February as well as their regular weekly training sessions. The RAF Section has gone from strength to strength and won the inter section competition. They put in a great performance with only one slip-up when they were asked to remove their pullovers during a parade revealing 15 un- ironed shirts. I guess there are still some things the army does best. Corporal Andrew Todd has been awarded a prestigious gliding scholarship which will lead after a week’s intensive gliding to a solo flight and the award of Silver Wings. Junior Corporal Brett Philpott is awarded this year’s prize for best cadet. As well as showing excellent knowledge of the Air Force, Brett has received his marksman badge for shooting and he has participated in every camp competition and expedition he can. He has shown great leadership potential in his willingness to help the junior cadets in his section. Brett was also one of ten cadets who took part last weekend in the Welsh 3000s Expedition. Fifteen mountains of over 3000 feet in three ranges were climbed over three days. Seven of the team completed all fifteen summits. They were Thomas Abel, Mason Blair, Jacob Brennan, Cameron Campbell, JJ Hanrahan, Brett Philpott and Harry Scull. To represent these students in this achievement and to collect his award for the best cadet of the year, I would like to welcome to the stage Brett Philipott.
