are standing down from the large roles that they hold within the school, I am very pleased to tell you that they are both remaining on a part time basis.

Mrs

Chapman to continue teaching Physics at the highest levels and Mrs Stanley to develop the advice on careers and University applications which is so important to the futures of our sixth formers. As they step down from their full time positions I would like to publicly thank them for their contribution to the school.

Today is a very special day in the school year. We reflect on the achievements of our students at so many different levels, but of course it is also in some ways a sad day when we say goodbye to a large number of students. Some of our upper sixth have only been with us for the two years of the sixth form but many have been with us for much longer, some from their early years in Chapter House. I hope that what we have provided for you will enable you to go out into the world and soar like eagles, make the best of your opportunities and to live happy and fruitful lives.

I would like to end with some words to you that I first heard from a Headmaster in Wales in my youth. The Headmaster who I am to quote was a delightful man and was bilingual in Welsh and English and as people who are bilingual know, just occasionally one gets a little mixed up as one moves from one language to the other. He was saying his goodbyes as I am to our students on an occasion just like this one. He told them how they were now prepared to go out into the world. He said, “You now have your qualifications, may have opportunities, foundations have been laid with your education by your families and what you must remember is”, he said, “you are going out to start your adult lives and from this point on the world is your lobster!”
