Having taken students on numerous sports tours around the world, I’ve never come across a group of students as well behaved as this group of year 11’s were on this mini tour. They were always punctual, helpful and genuinely enjoyed each others company. It was a delight to see and be apart of. I wish the boys every success in the future as they now step up to the challenges of senior rugby in the sixth form.


Under 15’s Rugby


A core group of enthusiastic and energetic Year 9 and 10 boys have trained throughout two terms with coaches Mr Wood and Mr Mantle on a Tuesday evening. The standard of play that the boys have developed throughout the year has been pleasing to see and certain players such as James Smith and Toby Yorke have made massive progress enabling them to force their way into the under 16 sevens squad. Fixtures against Hipperholme Grammar School, West Hill School and Birkdale School were all close competitive encounters. Players such as Mason Blair and Adam Stead have made pleasing progress during the year and newcomer Povilas Maksis has shone despite never playing the game before starting here at QE in September! If the boys can maintain their enthusiasms alongside the pressures of exams next year, it will prove to be an exciting season with a trip to London for the National Sevens at Rosslyn Park to look forward to.


Under 13’s Rugby


This season the under 13 squad have shown that they have the potential to become one of the best rugby teams in the history of QE. Their commitment towards training has been extremely positive and this has resulted in some excellent results.
