Unfortunately we could not repeat the performance at the Area Final but gave a creditable performance against some very good teams.
As the Master in Charge of the team I would like to thank the entire group for their diligence and hard work. I could not have asked for a more dedicated and hard working group of students. A special thank you must go to the captain, Austin Liu for the work he put in bringing the team together to get the best out of them. He was an inspiration to us all.
As ever the Challenge goes on and next years group have a great deal to live up to.
ME Good Master in Charge
Captains Comments:
As the captain of the OE Bank of England Challenge team, I felt lucky and delighted to cooperate with my teammates. At the first meeting, I told the whole team “even if there is only 1% possibility of winning the game, it worth fighting.” I was given the chance to lead the team, not because I was better than others, but because we know each other so well that no one would care about the title. What we wanted is learning together and showing others that we will make it!
What I want to say here is that nothing but a special bond had built up between us during the time period in which Aya, Almas, Alan and I were studying, laughing as well as fighting for the same dream together. Even now, every time when I see their faces, it reminds me of all the things we have experienced, all the emotion we have been sharing, and also the stories of our own.
Aya, to us, has always been curious about everything. She always pointed out the questionable parts of our presentation by asking rest of us ‘why?’ She was the last to join the team, however she soon fitted in and did not miss any opportunity to amaze us by showing her charm, especially when she was doing her presentation in the first round. When you know Almas well, you may understand what I mean by saying that his brown eyes tell stories. Fortunately I got the chance to work with him. It was through reading newspapers, taking notes and writing speeches in the library of York University ,he impressed me by his wisdom and his loyalty as a friend. Alan has been one of my best friends for a long time, His intelligence did help our presentation a lot.
