The thought of leaving QE at the end of Upper Sixth seemed like a million years away in Year 7 and something I wouldn’t have to think about for a long time, but the years have flown by and now I am here and the end of life at QE is fast arriving! I have been at QE for 12 years and have made some fabulous friends and memories. Some friends have left but new ones have arrived, and they have all helped me become the person I am today!


I would like to take this chance to thank all of my teachers who have helped and encouraged me with my work so I can achieve the best grades!


When I was first appointed Senior Day Prefect I was very excited at the thought of being able to help the QE staff with the improvement of the school. I have helped on many occasions which include helping to set up the day centre in the Undercroft and with the socials that happen now and again! It will be sad to leave QE as it has always been there and is a major part in my life, but I am excited at the thought of leaving to go and study at university and meet new friends. However, if it had not have been for QE I’m not sure I would have as much confidence to break away! My time as a prefect has been a memorable experience and I have enjoyed forming a bond with the other members of the team. This has helped me to build in confidence. Seeing the new prefects on stage during their prefect service this term reminded me of the honour and anxiety I felt last year on my first day as a member of the prefect team. I have learned a lot about team work, communication and the importance of being myself during the last year. I arrived at QE two years ago, laden with a few suitcases and a lot of uncertainty, in order to start life as a boarder in sixth form. Since then, juggling A-Levels with extra-curricular activities has been tough, but I can look back on my time here with few regrets. From camping alongside warthogs and hippos in Uganda, to nervously clutching my violin to play on stage – the extra- curricular activities that I have taken part in have definitely encompassed a range of settings and emotions. Boarding would not have been the same without sharing memorable experiences with the incredible friends I have made here, from all over the world. I will miss them, and I hope to stay in touch long after we leave. It was a privilege to be appointed to the role of prefect, in such an amazing team. Good luck to next year’s prefects.
