I can remember my first visit to QE very clearly. The school was quiet, as all the students had gone for Easter, therefore my first impression was that my new school was more of a building site. Four years later the building works are almost complete and in that time my educational achievements have built up also. I had never experienced boarding, so that was another first for me, and I must say I have enjoyed it tremendously.
Being at QE has given me the confidence to take on something as demanding as the IB. That same confidence has enabled me to assume the important role of Head of L House. This has proved both invigorating and educational!
I would like to thank all my teachers, and the learning support department for the support and help they have given me over the years.
I truly would not be where I am today without them. I would also like to wish all those in my year the best of luck in their examinations.

“But there are advantages to being elected President. The day after I was elected, I had my high school grades classified Top Secret .”
Ronald Reagan“
It all started when I was given the opportunity to come to QE in Sixth Form after looking around the amazing facilities the school had to offer, enticed by the hundreds of TVs in the Undercroft I didn’t realise that I actually wouldn’t have time to watch them! Nevertheless I soon settled into what is known as the ‘QE life’ and even as a day student I adapted easily to my surroundings, although the boarding lifestyle always appealed to me.
I always tried my best at anything put in front of me, whether it be in school work or even having a stab at the sports that QE offered; and all this did help my confidence
substantially, but becoming Head of House really helped me a lot – especially winning House Music which was fantastic (thank you Mr Farnhill!).
I know it’s a very stereotypical thing to say but I do honestly believe that QE has shaped me into the responsible young adult I leave the gates as today. I think Rudyard Kipling summed up the journey I have embarked on when he said ‘If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch, If you can fill the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a man, my son!’
