his best form after a long term medical absence; hopefully Alex will rediscover his best form for the start of next season. He will have a key role to play.


As we look forward to the 2010/2011 season with an even stronger fixture list that now includes the likes of Giggleswick School, it will be a big ask for the boys currently in the lower 6th and year 11 to step up and replace the outgoing upper 6th players. Big things will be expected of the new 1st XV Captain Jamie Birdsall, alongside the already established 1st XV players Adam Peacock, Ben Hammonds and Devon Matheson in the year to come. I’m sure they will rise to the challenge!


Senior Sevens


Given that we had expanded the fixture list for 15 a side rugby, it seemed the logical step to do the same with 7’s. Numerous tournaments were entered, which ensured a hectic but enjoyable second half to the term. Trips to Birkenhead for the North of England 7’s, a weekend in Blackpool for the Fylde 7’s, a trip to Stonyhurst College for their prestigious competition, a day out in Wakefield at the Silcoates 7’s and then the term ended with the National 7’s at Rosslyn Park; the worlds biggest rugby tournament.


The weather had put paid to numerous outdoor training sessions, but fortunately we now have the Genesis sports hall to use in these circumstances and we managed to train throughout the inclement weather that appeared as if it would never stop! Numbers at training were high and it became clear that picking a squad of no more than 12 players from 24 was going to prove a difficult task, which left me with the unenviable task of informing some players that they would
