The, so-called, nose holes are applied on each vessel type. This aspect emphasizes the vessel being a Damen vessel and being part of the offshore family.
3.3 IMPROVING COMFORT From the analysis phase the following concerning comfort/usage could be formulated.
Safety (Workers on board should be able to work and use the equipment without causing and undergoing dangerous situations).
Maintenance (for the owner of the ship the cost should be as low as possible).
Comfort (the workers on board should be comfortable and enjoy their stay as much as possible).
Ergonomics (workers on board should work as comfortable as possible).
To implement those remarks and to suffice to the expectations of the users, observations are necessary. Besides interviews with the users and analysis of other vessels, observations on board of the vessels are needed as well. Being part of the user group, realistic insights and a better understanding of the situation on board can be given.
Besides attracting qualified personnel, comfort may result in a better user-friendliness. Comfortable work situations may culminate in better results and lesser mistakes, which lead to better performances.

The fresh design approach listened above resulted in new offshore line. Compared to the well-known used design sequences, different stakeholders were involved from the beginning. Designing from the user’s point of view and competitors’ point of view lead to new insights and possibilities for improving and developing the vessels.
Especially the shortage of qualified personnel stresses the importance for implementing ergonomics and human factors (for increasing the comfort and safety on board) in the early development phase.

Being in the wheelhouse looking forward the reflection of the sun may disturb the view of the captain and his colleagues when looking outside. This may result in uncomfortable work situations. Applying a

Getting to the top of the mast, for example, in different weather conditions may be harmful. Combining the ladder in the mast, the person climbing the ladder gives the user more shelter.
