30.1 What is Globalisation?
In former times, most regions were more economically isolated and self-sufficient than they are today. This means they produced food, fuel and raw materials locally and often for their own needs. Trade, travel and communications between different regions were much more limited than now. Most businesses survived by using local raw materials and by selling their products to local markets.
