Investigate the factors that influenced the location of the village/town/ city in which you live/which is in close proximity to you. Your findings can be presented in PowerPoint, poster or infographic form.

Interview people in the chosen location who may know the influencing factors/history behind the settlement’s location.
Classify my settlement as either urban or rural. Include details of the population and the county the area is in.
Explain two physical factors that influenced the location of the settlement. Explain one historical factor that influenced the location of the settlement.

Use OS maps and aerial photographs from Scoilnet Maps and Google Maps of my settlement to show the factors that influenced its location.
Use relief maps (showing mountains/rivers) to show any influence the physical landscape may have had on my chosen settlement. (Scoilnet Maps provides relief maps.)
Peer Assessment
Swap your report with a classmate/another group. Write down two things you think they did well and one thing they could improve on.
Redrafting
Reviewing the success criteria again to make sure you have met all the requirements, and taking into account your peer assessment notes, make any changes you think are needed. When you are ready, you can prepare to show your work to the class.
