There are many different types of climate found in different parts of the world, each with its own characteristics, e.g. the region where it is found, its average temperature, hours of sunshine, levels of precipitation, etc.
There are three broad categories of climate: hot, temperate and cold. Each of these includes a number of climatic types:

To help distinguish (tell the difference) between different climate types, we will examine certain characteristics that are unique to each one:

Location (where they are found) Temperature
Levels of precipitation (e.g. rain, hail, sleet or snow)
