End of Chapter Assessment A Volcano in the Year I was Born
Go to the Smithsonian Institute Global Volcanism programme website (volcano.si.edu/E3/) and watch the time-lapse video showing volcanic activity from 1960–2017. Select one volcanic eruption from the year you were born to investigate. You must write an article for your school newsletter about this eruption.

Give my article an interesting title.
Name the volcano involved and the plate/s that it is found on. Provide the year and date of the eruption. Draw a map to show the location of the volcano.
Give five to six specific pieces of information about the eruption. Include information about the size of the eruption and the damage it caused.
I SHOULD:
Give one economic and one social impact of the eruption if it was large enough to have a serious impact on the people affected.

Include images of the volcano, and additional interesting facts or figures.
Create an imaginary interview with a local who witnessed the eruption.
Peer Assessment
Swap your article with a classmate. You must read their work and tell them two things that they have done very well, and suggest one thing that they could improve on based on the success criteria above.
