Create a brochure that advertises a particular tourist destination/attraction/activity in which you are interested. This destination can be anywhere in the world. It can be a destination you have visited before or one you hope to visit in the future.
This is an individual task. SUCCESS CRITERIA
I MUST: z z z z z
Name the destination that my brochure will be based on. Include the attractions available that stimulate tourism in the region.
Show how my tourist destination/attraction relies on or is influenced by the physical landscape or climate. Give details of how tourists can reach my destination and what are the peak-, mid- and off-seasons.
Include the effects that tourism is having on the physical landscape of my chosen destination.
I SHOULD: z
z z
Include a section on how my chosen destination is aiming to make tourism as sustainable as possible.
Gather images, maps and other interesting information from the internet on my chosen destination and its attractions.
Use the keywords I learned throughout this chapter related to tourism and tertiary economic activities.
Self-Assessment
Compare your brochure with ones you have found online or that you have seen. Then re- read what you have written and write down two things you think you did well and one thing you think you could improve on.
Redrafting
Review the success criteria again to make sure you have met all the requirements. Take into account your own self-assessment notes and make any changes you think are needed. When you are happy, prepare to show your work to the class or teacher.
