In wintertime, the region gets on average 6–10 hours of daily sunshine, and temperatures are usually between 2 and 10 degrees Celsius.
How Mediterranean Tourism Affects Transport
The Mediterranean tourism year can be divided into three seasons: peak season (mid-June through August), mid-season (April through mid-June and September through October) and off-season (November through March).
The Mediterranean is well serviced by air, sea and road routes. However, high demand at peak times creates an increased need for transport routes.
In relation to air travel, increased demand can raise the cost of flights by hundreds of euro. Airports become crowded, with long queues for check-in, security clearance and passport control.
