28.1 What is Human
Development? You learned in the previous chapter that there is a divide between the rates of economic development being experienced by countries in today’s world. The same is true for the rates of human development.
Human development is the process of increasing people’s freedoms and opportunities while also improving their well-being. It is the freedom for people to decide who to be, what to do and how to live.
