Lubrizol uploads ‘phygital’ peptide to tackle wrinkles
Lubrizol Life Science Beauty (LLS Beauty) has unveiled Uplevity e-Lift peptide, which is inspired by microcurrent devices that mimic the benefits of electrical stimulation on the skin for an upper face lifted appearance and reduced visibility of wrinkles. The tetrapeptide is said to
blur the lines between physical and digital to mimic the effects of microcurrent devices on the skin. This ‘phygital’ aesthetic
emphasizes facial sculpting and is achieved by reshaping the face, raising the cheekbones and bringing increased attention to the eyes. Lubrizol says the Uplevity e-Lift
peptide helps achieve this ‘phygital’ aesthetic by mimicking the effect of microcurrent devices on the skin. In vitro, the result is increased
collagen contraction and improved mitochondrial function, resulting in firmer skin and better muscle tone, similar to microcurrent stimulation. After one month of treatment with the active ingredient, volunteers achieved a microcurrent-like upper face lifted appearance via a ‘triorbital’ skin lift
(supraorbital eyebrow and eyelid lift, orbital crow’s feet lift, and infraorbital upper cheek lift). Volunteers also presented a
minimized appearance of wrinkles and a 13.1% reduction in wrinkle length in seven days, comparable to a commercial microcurrent device.
Symrise calls time ‘oat’ on sensitive skin
Symrise has taken the wraps off SymCalmin, an ingredient made from organic oats designed to relieve sensitive skin symptoms such as itching or feeling of tension. The German firm says it is the
first organic product on the market with a highly concentrated content of avenanthramides (200-250 ppm), which are natural active ingredients found in oats known for their skin-soothing properties. Symrise extracts and
concentrates the avenanthramides from the regionally-grown oats using its patented SymTrap technology with natural solvents. Used regularly, says Symrise,
it promises to relieve itching and burning, reduced feelings of tension and stinging. Suitable for all cosmetics,
especially skin and body care and hygiene products, it is said to work well all sensitive skin types, from occasionally sensitive to atopic prone skin. “Symrise consistently commits to
sustainability. Thus, we feel proud to offer our customers this organic active ingredient with patented effect for sensitive skin. In this way, we support brand manufacturers and their ranges of cosmetics with natural and certified organic ingredients,” said Symrise global product manager of soothing actives Lili Baraton. “Among other things, for
SymCalmin Avena, we have established a cooperation with local farmers who supply us with organic oats. Short distances improve our CO2
ingredients in geographic proximity to the producer,” she added.

photoageing, and noticeable pores. The beneficial effects of
Biobenefity include prevention of melanocyte proliferation, whitening, improvement of noticeable pores and recovery from wrinkles. In Biobenefity Conc, the content
of cynaropicrin has been increased up to tenfold. The compact, concentrated form reduces carbon emissions
from transportation, container waste and storage space, making it an environmentally-friendly raw material. In addition, the increased
concentration of active compound makes it an easy product to consider for higher dosage in formulations. Biobenefity Conc is certified
COSMOS approved and is IECIC2021 listed.
