SCC elects 2024 executive officers
The Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) has elected its board of executive officers for 2024. The executive officers are
the US organisation’s governing body focused on the mission, strategy, and goals of the SCC and are responsible for representing the interests of more than 5,000 individual cosmetics and personal care industry members globally. The 2024 executive officers,
effective 1 January are as follows. ■ President - Anthony J. O’Lenick, Surfatech Corporation ■ Vice President - Akshay Talati, Goop ■ Vice President-Elect - Marisa Plescia, Bell International Laboratories ■ Secretary - Giorgio Dell’Acqua, Nutrafol ■ Treasurer - Yulia A. Park,
Amway Corporation “As a member of the SCC for
nearly 45 years, I am extremely honoured to again serve as President,” said O’Lenick (pictured). “My fellow board members
and I are committed to increased engagement and education opportunities for our members, along with creating a strong and sustainable future for the SCC,” he added.
The elected officers are
complemented by Immediate Past President Mark Chandler (ACT Solutions) and IFSCC representative Peter Tsolis (Estée Lauder), both of whom serve on the board in an ex-officio capacity. “I am looking forward to
working with this passionate and seasoned group of SCC leaders in
2024,” said Erica L. O’Grady, CAE, SCC’s chief executive officer. “Their industry knowledge
and diverse perspectives will be an asset to every member they represent in charting the course for the organization’s future,” she added.
Univar Solutions agrees Latam distribution deal with DSM-Firmenich
Univar Solutions has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with DSM-Firmenich for the latter’s personal care ingredients and solutions in Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America. The Central America region
represents Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama and Honduras. “We are elated to bring the

ProTec promotes Kevin Cousins to group MD
UK personal care ingredient distributor ProTec has promoted Kevin Cousins to the role of group managing director, effective 2 October. Cousins, who is currently managing director of ProTec

Ingredia, will oversee the running of all UK ProTec businesses, INB in Germany and the Americas, and ProTec Ingredia Polska. The day-to-day running of the individual businesses will remain with the current managing directors:
Gary Parker for ProTec Nutra, Dean Lockton for ProTec Botanica, Tomasz Piotrowski for ProTec Ingredia Polska and Birgit Haemel for ProTec Ingredia GmbH. Cousins will remain managing
director of ProTec Ingredia in the UK.
Spincontrol Asia renamed Dermaproof Asia
Thai cosmetic testing firm Spincontrol Asia has changed its name to Dermaproof Asia. The Bangkok firm said
the move is the final step of a restructuring process of the Spincontrol group that started in August 2022 with the acquisition of its headquarters by Eurofins. The renaming will not affect
the contracts or the services it provides, it added. “Dermaproof Asia is now a
fully independent company. This marks a new beginning that offers us opportunities to rebrand ourselves and to define our own pathway to develop and improve our services - some changes that we plan to bring to you will be immediately visible; others will progressively come to life,” said Dermaproof Asia managing director Fabrice Perin. “The values and ethics of
our company will remain the same,” he added.
Caribbean Natural Products
picks sales VP US-based cosmetic ingredient distributor Caribbean Natural Products has appointed Francesca Muia as its vice president of sales and marketing. Muia has been in the personal
care industry for over 20 years in lead marketing roles engaged in product development and commercialization. Her previous role was global
vice-president of OnScent’s natural cosmetics division, where she oversaw the company’s sustainable, traceable and ethically sourced ingredient portfolio for the cosmetics and personal care market. Muia, who has also worked
for Premier Specialties, Solvay, Lonza and Arch Chemicals, has presented at exhibitions including in-cosmetics, SCS Formulate in the UK as well as HBA. She received her MBA in
marketing from Rutgers Graduate School of Management.
