If the photo looks familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, it’s because Personal Care Global magazine is still being edited by a balding middle-aged man but it’s no longer the same one! I have stepped into
Richard Scott’s shoes from this issue onwards. Richard left in late July after 12 years at the helm to pursue a career in a different field. Some of you may know me of old because

the personal care sector is not at all new to me. I have been the editor of Speciality Chemicals Magazine for most of the past 20 years and in that capacity have attended numerous events in the field. Foremost among these has, of course, been in-cosmetics Global and it would have been there that I would have hoped to introduce myself to as many as possible of our readers. Unfortunately, as you will probably know
only too well already, that was not to be. The COVID-19 pandemic is still claiming numerous
events in the field, largely because of the continuing travel restrictions imposed by different countries. This is no doubt exacerbated by a general and understandable wariness about travel at a time like this. At the time of writing, I have not left the UK since February 2020 and I’m sure that this is far from unusual among you. The big event on the other side of the Atlantic,
NYSCC Suppliers’ Day, is still on, however, in November and we preview it in this issue. On this side, we can look forward to SCS Formulate in Coventry a little later the same month and there is plenty more to look forward to in the months afterwards, culminating, we all hope, at in-cosmetics Global 2022 in Paris next spring. This issue features focuses on Naturals, Sun Care
and Silicones, with plenty more of the high-quality technical content you expect from us in a wide variety of fields. We have also finalised the media pack for next year, so I can announce now that the January 2022 edition will feature Hair Care, Textures and the Skin Microbiome. Your ideas for input are – and always will be – very welcome. I look forward to working with you in the coming years, and, you never know, we might even meet one day…!
