in-cosmetics shows postponed

Reed Exhibitions has announced that in-cosmetics Global in Barcelona and In-cosmetics Asia in Bangkok will not take place this year because of “the ongoing travel restrictions due to the [COVID-19] pandemic”. They will instead revert to their usual slots next year, with the former taking place on 5-7 April 2022 in Paris, and the latter on 1-3 November 2022 in Bangkok. “We have seen positive signs over

the last few months with successes in the vaccination programme rollout, but new variants have created increased uncertainties and steady progress is not the case everywhere,” said Roziani Zulkifli, exhibition director of in-cosmetics Global. “We have been in continuous

contact with both exhibitors and visitors, and it is clear the level of

confidence to travel and attend large-scale international B2B exhibitions in the cosmetics industry is not there yet.”

The decision about in-cosmetics

Asia was similarly prompted by widespread travel bans and further tightening of government movement measures across Asia and increasing numbers of COVID cases in and around Bangkok. These regions are now in the dark red zone of maximum restrictions. Meanwhile, in-cosmetics Latin

America in São Paulo, Brazil, has been rescheduled from 22-23 September to 10-11 November 2021. Exhibition director Daniel Zanetti said that this was being done in order to give the country’s vaccination programme a further seven weeks to boost immunity.

New publication on glycolic acid

CrossChem, a US-based raw materials and distribution partner of Hamburg-based Berg + Schmidt, has published an overview of the current state of research on the effectiveness and application of Berg + Schmidt’s GlyAcid (INCI: Glycolic Acid). As the smallest α-hydroxy acid,

glycolic acid can penetrate the skin, enhances the penetration of other active ingredients and helps to repair fatigued and damaged cells. The upper layers of skin are well-suited to bond with it, thanks to their 3D structure and chemical composition. In addition, glycolic acid

weakens adhesion of the dead skin cells, allowing them to be shed uniformly and in a controlled manner. The repair mechanisms it

induces result in a strong exfoliating and cell-renewing effect for healthy, damaged and mature skin alike. At the same time, this can also

lead to the release of cytokines that promote the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Formulations with glycolic acid promote rejuvenated, firmer skin and a more even skin appearance, as well as shiny, smooth hair and nail surfaces, the two companies said. Berg + Schmidt supplies GlyAcid

in highly pure and formaldehyde- free form in 70% solution or 99% solid forms. Depending on the concentration, it is used in creams, facial tonics, conditioners and nail care treatments, and it has also been used in treatments for ‘maskne’, the form of acne induced by wearing face masks.
