Arkansas Approves Cherokee Casino
Washington DC - FanDuel threatens to walk FanDuel will walk away from its current lottery and betting deal in Washington DC if the Council opts to open the market up to other operators. The operator is currently replacing GamBetDC kiosks at lottery partner locations, a process it said it would stop if the open market approach gains traction.
FanDuel President Christian Genetski said in a letter: “Should Subtitle R be enacted, FanDuel will transition its operations in the District under its Class A licence under the new regime consistent with its pre-existing contractual relationship, and invoke its termination right under the subcontract.”

New Jersey - Support for creation of task force The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) is supporting New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy's move to address problem gambling with the creation of the Responsible Gaming Task Force.

Te Arkansas Racing Commission has voted to proceed with Cherokee Nation’s application to establish a casino in Russellville, Pope County.
Te Arkansas Racing Commission has voted to open a new 30-day application period for the state’s fourth and final casino and to proceed with Cherokee Nation Entertainment’s application to establish a casino in Pope County.
In doing so, it has rejected Mississippi-based Gulfside Casino Partnerships’ proposal at a cost of $300m in Pope County. Cherokee Nation wants to build Legends Casino in Russellville. Tis 50,000-square-foot casino will house 1,200 slot machines, 32 table games, a poker room, and a sportsbook. It will also host a 200- room hotel, an outdoor music venue and a water park, as well as provisions for an RV park and a dog park.
Cherokee Nation Entertainment CEO Chuck Garrett, said: “As the only qualified applicant, we are eager to stand before the Arkansas Racing Commission where we will demonstrate Cherokee Nation Entertainment’s more than 30 years of experience in gaming and hospitality, its strong financial position, and plans for a world-class casino resort. Oklahoma Construction on permanent Kings Mountain casino
Te Catawba Nation is about to launch the construction of its $700m permanent casino resort in Kings Mountain, NC, having settled a dispute with its former casino developer Sky Boat Gaming over the ground lease for its lands.
Te Catawba Nation has now removed Sky Boat from any part of the project by buying the land around its temporary casino. Te permanent casino resort, which will be approximately two million sq. ft. at full buildout, will be completed in two main phases:
Te first phase will be constructed at ground level with 1,350 slots/ETGs, 12 table games and a restaurant with 40 seats that will include a sportsbook area with 30 self-service kiosks. In addition, supporting back-of-house space for surveillance, security, the cage
and part of the first two floors of the parking garage will be completed above the ground level.
Upon opening, estimated for early 2026, the introductory casino will replace the current temporary facility. Employment will be at about 420 positions, which is 20 more than what is anticipated when the new table games area in the temporary casino opens this summer. Construction will then begin on the 400-room hotel and the remainder of the casino complex.
Te hotel tower will be a separate structure that is connected to the casino complex to maximise the patron experience. Te casino complex will feature three levels of parking, an entire floor devoted to back-of-house operations and offices, and the main casino floor.
