Black Cow: why wait to innovate?


Exasperated with the iGaming industry’s reticence to innovate, Max Francis, CEO and Founder of Black Cow Technology, explains how his company’s Open Game Architecture is designed to power the games and experiences of the future.


How is Black Cow powering the games and experiences of the future?


Our Open Gaming Architecture's key capability is its flexibility. It allows licensees to take as much control as they'd like over their platform and their games pipeline. It contains a game development kit which enables licensees to easily build their own game engines and have control.


Alternatively, the game development kit can be distributed to their partners so they can have their own partners building game engines for their products, or they can have us use that game development kit to build their own engines. Tat gives them complete control of what they're building, what it does and how it does it. And it really is complete control.


Tere are really no limits on what features can be supported on there - it can be table games, slots - any kind of single player game essentially. It's been involved in countless integrations over the years, each of which has added a little bit more flexibility and functionality to it. It does everything you'd expect an RGS to be able to do, connecting to any kind of wallet system anywhere.


After the single player server had been established, we added a jackpot platform that shares a similar philosophy. It allows any kind of jackpot game or jackpot feature to be developed because all the jackpot logic is inside the game engine and not the jackpot server.


Tis enables our jackpot server to be connected to any RGS, but if you connect it to the OGA

single player RGS that allows any kind of jackpot feature to be added to an existing game. Tat's been popular over the last couple of years. We think that's a good line of business for us going forward offering platforms that level of flexibility.


Even if they don't already run OGA, they can add jackpots of their own on top of whatever they've got without adjusting whatever they've got underneath. Tat could be a very powerful differentiator for operators to have a unique jackpot their players cannot get anywhere else,

How about an experience more like Fortnite than an online slot, something much more


experiential than transactional?

Te third thing we added to that portfolio roster was the multiplayer RGS. Again, with the same philosophy, this allows somebody to add their own game engines, their own logic, their own product, and their own pipeline of products under their own control and build that functionality themselves without having to share it back to us. Tey don't have to give us the specs for their games if they want to develop the engines themselves.


Tat's an attractive proposition to developers who don't want to share their precious mathematics and game specs with anyone else. Tere's no danger that information will find its way into their competitors via us because of the autonomy that OGA gives them.


Ultimately, multiplayer gaming is centred around event-driven activity and interactions between multiple players, all continually connected to one room of activity where they can bet on events taking place in that room.
