Review ICE TOTALLY GAMING 2015

ISLE OF MAN HIGHLIGHTS DOUBLE DUTY RELIEF

Officials on the Isle of Man Government stand were keen to highlight the island’s Double Duty Relief, following the UK’s launch of Place of Consumption Tax introduced on December 1, 2014

The island, which now has 56 operators, with many of those having additional, multiple operations, has responded to the December’s introduction of Place of Consumption Tax in the UK by allowing Isle of Man operators to claim Double Duty Relief up to a monetary maximum equivalent to the amount of gambling duty which would have been paid to the Isle of Man Treasury on the same activity.

CEO for e-Gaming Development with the Isle of Man Department of Economic Development Peter Greenhill said: “Post December 1 we’ve seen a whole new wave of applicants following the introduction of the changes following Point of Consumption and what it now means to set up. The new UK tax has placed a burden on our operators and while we are not legally bound to offer Double Duty Relief we have decided that this is the best policy. Firstly, our operators will not have to appoint a Fiscal Representative in the United Kingdom, thereby saving them substantial costs. This person would have had

MATSUI’S RFID LIVE IN S. KOREA

Matsui was at the ICE show with the news that several South Korean casino operations are now using its 1356 RFID solutions to manage their range of chips

Dave Holt, Managing Director of Matsui Europe, said: “We’re getting great feedback from the Korean operators with regards to our RFID solution so much so that other casinos in Asia have now taken it up.”

Matsui was also showing a new range of Premier Decal chips, a cross between a plaque and a chip with live security in three colours.

Mr. Holt added: “The Premier Decal Chip is a real top of the range chip/plaque hybrid. It’s shaped

like a rectangular plaque but the feel and sound is just like a chip. It’s being used by some of the casino Technology-owned operations in Bulgaria.

the physical responsibility of paying duty to government. If there is no physical representative, the UK is accepting 50 per cent of the envisaged duty up front. There is also concern amongst UK operators with regards to Base Erosion and Profit Shifting and what that could mean to their business. Neither of these are of concern to us on the Isle of Man. All of these issues could really affect where operators set up. Our decision to offer Double Duty Relief provides reassurance to Isle of Man licence holders so that they can continue to run their operations from data centres on the Isle of Man and base their decision making capabilities here as well so as to protect against any future claims under Base Erosion and Profit Shifting.”

Manx Telecom was also present on the ICS stand with the news that it has been selected as a hosting partner for two new eGaming businesses setting up in the Isle of Man, and one gaming operator currently based in Europe which is relocating to the Island. This latest news adds to Manx Telecom’s impressive portfolio of eGaming clients which includes Pokerstars, Full Tilt Poker and Paddy Power.

Manx Telecom was represented at ICE by Account Managers Dan Walker and John Corrigan who were on the Department of Economic Development’s eGaming team stand.

Dan Walker commented: “As always, ICE proved to be a fantastic opportunity not only to promote the rapidly expanding portfolio of solutions we offer the gaming industry, but also the many advantages offered by the Isle of Man. There was a great deal of interest in our hosting solutions, plus the fact we’re the only Isle of Man hosting provider with two Tier 3 data centres. We also received a good deal of enquiries about our Intelligent Analytics and DDoS Protection solutions.”

Businesses using Manx Telecom’s Intelligent Analytics solution can improve their identification of high value players and the accuracy of targeted marketing for cross/up-selling.
