Review ICE TOTALLY GAMING 2015

Continent 8 Technologies was at ICE promoting its relationship with Choose New Jersey, the state's lead economic development organisation for business attraction and retention

Continent 8 opened its first North American data center in New Jersey in May last year where it is providing a suite of hosting and managed service offerings to the New Jersey market, supported by the IT resources and experience of Continent 8 Technologies PLC.

The Atlantic City data center links into the global private backbone of Continent 8 Technologies PLC with diverse links into northern New Jersey and New York. This allows customers to link back into other markets and locations from which they operate.

Michael Chrobak, New Jersey’s Chief Economic Development Officer, said: “New Jersey offers a powerful combination of assets for business in North America, including a perfect location in the north-eastern US in one of the most extensive broadband networks in the nation.”

Nick Nally, Chief Operating Officer of Continent 8 LLC and Chief Development Officer of Continent 8 Technologies, added: “We are constantly called upon by our customers to assist them as they navigate changing technical, commercial, and regulatory environments. In turn, our customers lead us to opportunities and help shape our corporate and product development. It is a mutually beneficial environment where ideas are exchanged and innovation occurs.”

Michael Tobin, CEO of Continent 8, added: “This cooperation is no more evident than in New Jersey where prior to the introduction of online gaming regulations, we worked with all facets of the industry in the State to bring a neutral co-location and managed services offering to the market that benefitted all involved. As a result Continent 8 has established a hosting center in one of the licensed premises in Atlantic City.

“This is one of the most significant milestones in Continent 8 groups ongoing global expansion. In addition to our growing New Jersey customer base, we can really start marketing our offering to help make Atlantic City a technology hub for the inevitable growth of the online gaming industry in the USA.”

The company also operates data centres and

connectivity network points of presence around the globe including the Isle of Man, London, Paris, Milan, Dublin, Malta, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Singapore, Montreal, Toronto, New York and New Jersey.

It was recently named ‘Company of the Year’ in the 2014 Isle of Man Newspapers Awards for Excellence.

Mr. Tobin described the award as an “outstanding accolade for the company.”

“ Continent 8’s substantial growth and success can be attributed to our team and the ability to develop and nurture long term customer partnerships, by consistently offering the most sophisticated, innovative and reliable services to our valued customers, enabling us to be their single global provider,” added Mr Tobin.

“We have also identified and begun working with a number of technology focussed companies which have key synergies with Continent 8. Over the last 12 months we have developed a reseller programme offering white labelled solutions which have enabled IT resellers to expand their product range without

the burden of additional capex and ongoing support costs.”

Continent 8 continues to work closely with the Isle of Man Government’s Department of Economic Development, promoting and encouraging inward investment to the Island around the globe. Incorporated on the Isle of Man in 2006, the company further underlined its commitment to the Island two years later by opening its Isle of Man data centre and corporate headquarters in Douglas, an initial capital investment of £5m. Further investment and expansion took place in 2013 with an additional £1.5m expansion programme at the company’s Douglas data centre, with all work undertaken by local suppliers. The company has also increased headcount within Europe by 45 per cent over the last two years.

“The inclusion of the Isle of Man data centre in the company’s global footprint enabled Continent 8 to drive substantial business to the Island from other jurisdictions, particularly in the form of disaster recovery services, as the Isle of Man is recognised as a well regulated and stable business environment,” said Mr Tobin.
