Announcing OverDrive version 12 In Brief Recorders offer
Ross Video By Monica Heck
Ross Video has released version 12 of its OverDrive Automated Production Control System. Version 12 software introduces SideBox and SideSlide, two new control surfaces which give the operator additional control of all production elements and aim to maximise the flexibility of staff and space.
Scott Bowditch, marketing
product manager for OverDrive, explained that SideBox allows the mapping of any “button press” or automation system function to a 28 button shot box, while SideSlide provides
tactile control of audio to provide solid control among APC systems. “The control surfaces can be placed at the user’s fingertips regardless of the location of the OverDrive client screens or production switcher panel,” Bowditch explained.
Brand new for version 12 is OverDrive Ultimate Redundancy, which allows the use of fully redundant switchers to provide a system with no single points of failure. The company says that
OverDrive, working alongside video server sync-roll, redundant servers and multiple clients, offers redundancy to fit customer’s needs, risk tolerance level and budget.

would make the use of OverDrive advantageous for additional news outlets around the world. The new NRCS integration is scheduled for release after IBC. 9.C10

The primes share the same housing dimensions, and all focus and iris gears are in the same position so that follow focus systems and matte boxes remain in the same positions when the lenses are changed. Each lens has a similarly positioned 0.8/123 tooth focus gear module and a 0.8/118 tooth iris gear module. Even the 18mm fits the profile, as the engineers designed a custom low-
