Breakfast with IBC

Once again, you can start your IBC day before you even leave your hotel room. IBC TV News is on air every morning between 07:00 and 09:00. There should be a card in your hotel room with the channel number: look for cable service AT5. The shows are produced

entirely here on site, with professional journalists led by anchor Rob Curling touring the show floor with their camera crews, capturing all that is new and exciting. The result is a fast-paced and informative 20 minute programme each morning from Friday to Tuesday – perfect for viewing between shower and breakfast. The crews are equipped with Sony PDW500 cameras. Recording onto solid state media, the raw footage is fed into the EVS workflow in the production base, housed in the IBC Workflow Village in Hall 9. Edited and packaged, the show is ready for transmission.

As well as the morning

broadcasts, you can also see IBC TV News on the web – at ibctvnews.com – on iTunes and on the IBC Info Channel, the digital signage network around the RAI. The website also contains extra stories, more background and extended versions of the interviews with key industry figures. Each morning there are two

live broadcasts, streamed to ibctvnews.com, at 10:00 and 12:00. Rob Curling interviews some of the thought leaders who will be driving the debate each day, as well as previewing some of the stories that will be coming up on the next morning’s programme. Online, on air and on your mobile devices, IBC TV News is your fast source of opinion and information. Find out more at www.ibc.org/news.

Away from the IBC show

Amsterdam has been the IBC venue for 20 years this year. The RAI Centre provides a compact site for a huge exhibition and top level conferences, facilities that would be hard to replicate anywhere else in Europe. And at the end of the day, we

are in one of the friendliest, most cosmopolitan and cultured cities in the world. It makes a perfect combination: good for work during the day, good for a little relaxation in the evenings. You do not even need to stray far from the RAI Centre. The Beach combines local character with lively industry conversation each evening. There are some excellent

restaurants just a few minutes’ walk from here, too.

All IBC visitors have a pass

for free travel on the buses, trams and sneltrams (metro) throughout the city, so it is easy not just to get back to your

hotel but to explore the city. If you do not have your ticket and map yet, pick them up from an IBC Info Point. All IBC regulars have their favourite haunts in the city. Some head for the cafes and bars of

At the end of the evening you may feel a taxi is the best way back to your hotel. They are available at many ranks throughout the city, are licensed by the city authorities and charge a standard, metered fare at around €1.50 a kilometre. For more information on how to get about at the show visit www.ibc.org/yourtrip or download the free IBC2012 Mobile App at www.ibc.org/mobileapp

theibcdaily Pick up your badge

Your first task on arriving at IBC will be to pick up your badge. If you have registered in advance this will be a matter of just a few seconds. If you have not yet registered then don’t worry: you can still sign up today. It might take a few seconds more but you will quickly be ready to enjoy all that IBC has for you. If you are here for the exhibition only then there are registration areas below Hall 12 and at the entrance to Hall 14. If

you have the barcode you were sent with your registration then scan it and your badge will be instantly printed. Without the barcode you need to go to a computer terminal in the registration areas and find your booking to print the badge. Conference delegates have a dedicated registration area in the Forum, although you can print your badge anywhere. In the Forum you can upgrade your registration to a Gold Pass if you want to benefit from the

Free travel from IBC

To help you get from the RAI Centre to your hotel, and later to bars, restaurants and receptions around town, IBC has once again worked with the city authorities to offer

free travel to all visitors. You need to pick up the travel pass, which is valid from today until Tuesday. Conference delegates will find the ticket in their bags. Exhibition visitors can pick one up from an IBC Info Point. With it you can enjoy free travel on all buses, trams and sneltrams (metros) within the city boundaries – including IBC –

run by GVB, the Amsterdam transport authority. From outside the RAI, near Hall 14, you will find Tram 4 and the special IBC Tram 11. Each goes to Centraal Station, taking different routes and passing many of the major hotels. If you are not sure which is best for you, ask at the IBC Info Point. If your hotel is close to Centraal Station, or on the eastern side of the old town, try the sneltram route 51. This goes from the RAI station,

full VIP conference experience or just pick up a bronze pass to experience any 5 sessions of your choice on any day. For those who have yet to

register, this is not a problem. You can go to www.ibc.org/register from your own computer or smartphone and sign up: your badge will be available immediately. Or you can use one of the computer terminals in the registration areas. To make the most of your IBC experience don’t forget to download the IBC2012 Mobile App for free at www.ibc.org/mobileapp

just a couple of minutes’ walk away. As its name suggests this is a fast service, reaching Centraal Station in under 15 minutes with just a couple of stops along the way, and can often be less crowded than the 4 and 11.

For IBC hotels which are not close to the 4, 11 or 51 routes there are IBC shuttle buses. Again, an IBC Info Point can help with maps and advice, or visit www.ibc.org/travel to view the full shuttle bus timetable.
