theibcdaily Connecting our world Take care of business IBC is about sharing
knowledge, understanding the latest developments, building relationships. But most of all it is about doing business. With tens of thousands of visitors filling the exhibition halls with the buzz of excitement, sometimes you need to find a quiet spot to conclude the negotiations. That place is the IBC Business Lounge. Designed as an oasis of calm just a few steps from the heart of the exhibition, this year you will find it in the Park Foyer near Hall 8. There are tables and chairs for small group discussions, and if you need additional discretion you can book a private meeting room. Coffee and snacks are
available, and staff in the lounge can help with photocopying. There is internet access available, including WiFi, so if you need to concentrate on some emails it is the place to be. The lounge is free for all visitors, and is open throughout the exhibition hours from now until Tuesday afternoon. So whether you are signing up a new distributor, agreeing contract terms with a lead vendor, finalising a system architecture with an integrator or talking through a new job opportunity, the IBC Business Lounge is the spot. To book a meeting speak to the hostess on the reception desk in the Business Lounge.
If there is one trend which is transforming our industry faster than anything else, it is the connected world. Audiences have long been excited by the idea of any content, any time, anywhere. Now we have the devices and the bandwidth to deliver it. To bring all the strands of this hottest of hot topics together, IBC has created a special area within the exhibition, the IBC Connected World. You will find it in the new Hall 14, at the very front of the show. A lot of exhibitors with products and software for smartphones, games consoles, connected TVs and tablets are located in this hall, helping you find all you need quickly. The centrepiece of the IBC Connected World is a Demonstration Area. Each day there will be a series of product presentations on stage. These are short and

punchy – just 15 minutes each – making it ideal for understanding the gist of a product. If you need to know more or get some hands on time, the exhibitor will be near at hand.
Each lunchtime there will be an extended panel session. These round table debates will tackle the key issues on which the success of a connected world will depend. Topics include the connected TV, the way in which IPTV and over the top can co-exist, apps for video, mobile tools for internet on the move, and home networks – the ability to
watch what you want from any room. The panels start at 12:00, so grab a sandwich and pull up a chair. Today there is a second panel debate, at 15:00, on the technologies that will create the connected world. With a subject as fresh as this, expect a lively conversation, and be prepared to make your voice heard, too.
