Blue Steel wireless mic introduced
Broadcast Sports Inc By Ian McMurray
Curved air: The J Series projectors are lighting up the Christie stand
Around the corner is the Christie MicroTiles feature wall, a dynamic display designed around four 4x3 presentations, interspersed with 3x1 and 1x4 stripes. MicroTiles are also used to display product information across the stand.
This display makes way for a command and control monitor wall environment, with four additional Christie FHD551-X flat, backlit LCD HD panels showing Control Room content and a 3x2 Entero 50- inch cube wall display. To showcase its latest
projector range, Christie has designed a dedicated area on the booth where the new higher brightness Christie HD14K-M perform, while a number of Christie J Series projectors, which mark the next generation of its 3-chip DLP Xenon platform, are presenting content onto a striking overhead curved surface. There is a separate area dedicated to Christie’s evolving range of LCD projectors. 9.C30
The company’s Blue Steel MIC1500 wireless microphone system is being introduced at IBC by Broadcast Sports Inc (BSI). The microphone is said to be unique in that it operates between 1435 and 1525MHz, a tightly controlled slice of spectrum that requires special coordination and ensures a
clean signal. BSI says that the technology has already proven to be a valuable asset to productions in crowded RF environments in the US, such as the Super Bowl, and will likely have a similar impact on large-scale productions in the UK and Europe.
The MIC1500 microphone
features an integrated talkback switch that allows the user to toggle between on air recording and off air communication with the
producer. It is designed with the internal antenna at the bottom of the shaft which prevents the presenter from obstructing the signal while still allowing him to hold the device comfortably. The handsets are battery powered and have an operational life of about six hours. The technology is also available in a belt pack configuration. The microphone operates on BSI’s Intelligent Diversity Receive Infrastructure which
involves placing multiple receive sites across a wide area to ensure reliable signal transmission and reception for multiple wireless devices. It can be deployed across a variety of venues including sports stadiums, golf courses, marathon routes and car racing tracks. The company’s wireless cameras, including point-of- view and on-board, and other communication devices also work on this system. 5.B20
