DCP creation for Leonis


JPEG2000 encoding technology by intoPIX has been integrated into the new CineMaster-Pro DCP creator produced by Leonis Cinema, a major equipment provider for the digital cinema industry in Asia. “With the post production market for 4K DCP generation rapidly heating up in China, so does the call for faster-than- software-based solutions,” said Darren Ma, CEO of Leonis Cinema. He went on to explain that the intoPIX integration “allows the CineMaster-Pro to meet the new challenges for realtime or faster generation of large 4K and 2K HFR DCP files”. intoPIX says its solution allows a substantial acceleration of the DCP generation in a professional production environment. 10.D31


miniHUB range Norwia is showing two new versions of its miniHUB; one for extended temperature environments and another more compact version for space conscious and re-engineered applications. The miniHUB is a 1RU frame that houses pluggable cards for optical video distribution. It is designed to reduce equipment cost and setup time, as well as maintenance costs. HDMI is used for low-cost monitoring and there is an option for analogue composite video for input and output. These modules convert legacy analogue signal to SD-SDI for optical distribution. Also recently released and on show is a RS-422/GPIO card for the expansion slot of the miniHUB solution, plus optical change- over on redundant SFP’s for the OC-4B-SDI multipurpose card. 9.C13

This system uses the Bluefish444 Supernova cards for video output. 7thSense’s existing Delta Servers also use Bluefish444 video cards for standard and stereoscopic outputs.

Broadcasters may be in danger of overestimating the power of social media as a ratings driver, according to a study from ratings powerhouse GfK. The research reveals more people are likely to watch TV content after catching a TV promo than they are through a recommendation by a friend on Facebook.


GfK teamed up with Red Bee to examine the way viewers watch television by using the VoD specialist’s TV Genius content discovery platform, which builds personalised TV listings and recommendations for viewers. Based on a sample of the top shows that aired on UK

Danmon Systems Group has announced the completion of a full migration to file-based HD production for Scandinavian sports broadcaster Kanal 75. Based at the Solvalla stadium in Stockholm, Kanal 75 is a subsidiary of AB Travoch Galopp, the authorised betting company for horse-racing in Sweden. “We record around 1,300 Swedish and international horse racing events each year, and transmit more than 100 hours of original television every week,” explained Kanal 75’s Director of
