theibcdaily Captivating audio compliance recorder Vortex By David Fox
The new Vortex CAPTURecord- 4 is a stand-alone, multichannel hard disk audio recorder with network connectivity for remote
monitoring. The 1RU unit is designed for continuous 24/7 operation and is the latest in its range of scalable compliance recorders.
It has four balanced analogue audio inputs and outputs, plus one AES digital input and output. The outputs operate in a ‘fail
safe’ mode, only active when audio is being recorded, and are designed for connection to the Vortex I-PPM networkable Audio Monitoring system to provide a detailed graphical representation of levels (including loudness), which can be included in the metadata of the audio files.
Time-and-date storage is standard and the CAPTUReview app allows display of this information during playback on a normal computer without needing a separate hardware timecode reader/inserter. Audio can be compressed or stored as lossless 44.1kHz, 16-

bit (96dB dynamic range) CD- quality recording for archive and post. It is recorded to one of two hot-swappable SATA RAID drives in removable bays, or to external USB or FireWire storage. It can record up to 6TB
internally, using 3TB disks, providing more than four months of uncompressed audio from all six inputs. File length and per-channel disk quota limits are configurable with all control, configuration and system monitoring performed via a browser-based panel. Its CAPTURelease add-on is a disk publishing system offering a simple and traceable way of producing CDs and DVDs for legal compliance or contributors. It incorporates an integrated optical disk publisher to both burn the media and print a label. 11.G11
