writers or erasers. In conclusion, polysaccharides, as chitin in its crystal form (CN) applied topically by cosmetic products formulated by the NICE approach, should help the cell to receive the same information (chemical labels) that the environment tries to erase. In this way the skin cells, maintaining their daily information, may send the right messages to other cells of the nervous, immune and endocrine systems, so that all the body may achieve a feeling of global wellbeing.
Conclusion
In conclusion, CN-nanoparticles have shown to be suitable for a controlled and safe delivery of active ingredients through the skin. By the matrix of these nanoparticles it seems possible to trap and immobilise different active ingredients leading to differences in their release kinetics and allowing a controlled delivery. Thus it has been shown10,11
that lutein can
be effectively delivered to the upper or deeper stratum corneum layers depending on the size of nanoparticles synthesised and the electrical charges on their surface. Moreover the specific adhesive properties of these nanoparticles on the skin and mucous membrane and the fluid nature of the global system designed, as well as the absence of any thickeners, give them a pleasant aesthetic, character and skin feel. Considering all these advantages and the high bio- and eco-compatibility of CN- nanoparticles, we are trying to ameliorate the global productive process to optimise all the parameters and scale up from the laboratory to pilot plant and then to industrial production level. Moreover, we wish to go on with other
in vitro and in vivo studies to understand the mechanism of action connected with the topical activity of cosmetic products and diet supplements formulated by the NICE approach.
