IN-COSMETICS
repellency agents, polymeric emulsion stabilisers, structuring agents, rheology modifiers, pigment stabilisers and actives delivery systems. These polymers are ideal for the development of aesthetically pleasing personal care formulations in sun care, skin care and colour cosmetics. Arizona Chemical’s science and technology efforts are dedicated to providing functional, innovative and sustainable alternatives to petroleum based ingredients. Arizona’s newest products are Sylvasol 200 and Sylvasol 200-E70 specialty polymers. These patent pending, bio-based polymers are particularly suited for ethanol-based sunscreen formulations. The Sylvasol polymers do not exhibit skin tightening and improve the water resistance of ethanol spray formulations. DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products will be at stand H60 highlighting new testing
results for Zemea propanediol, a 100% natural alternative to petroleum-based glycols and glycerin.
Zemea’s skin-friendly performance including lack of skin irritation, enhanced moisturisation and excellent skin feel aesthetics makes it an excellent natural substitute for petroleum-based ingredients such as propylene glycol and butylene glycol.
New testing of Zemea was conducted to evaluate its antimicrobial efficacy in aqueous-based formulations with only 25% of the recommended preservative level and 6% Zemea. This was an extension of testing completed last year showing it was possible to reduce your preservative level by 50% with the addition of 2% to 6% of Zemea in the formulation.
Zemea worked well with the lower preservative levels and boosted their efficacy for Gram-positive and Gram- negative organisms.
In order to reinforce its presence in the natural botanical extraction field, ID bio will extend its titrated extracts range. These standardised ingredients, certified by Ecocert, offer a compromise between a standard extract and an active. Currently composed of four ingredients, the titrated extracts line, TitrExtract, will be enlarged with three new references that answer today’s regulatory issues, with ingredient traceability in finished cosmetics products. Thus, ID bio will offer the following extracts: TitrExtract Sweet Clover: sweet clover extract titrated in coumarin.
TitrExtract Chamomile: chamomile extract titrated in bisabolol oxide.
TitrExtract Witch Hazel: witch hazel extract titrated in proanthocyanidins expressed as proanthocyanidin B2.

The claims associated to the extracts will be unveiled during in-cosmetics Barcelona. To find out more visit stand U30A.
Cosmetochem will be at stand D50 highlighting a number of novel ingredients. Colla-Gain, is a novel anti-ageing active derived from pomegranate flowers that not only promotes collagen synthesis, increasing skin density and reducing wrinkles but also decreases the breakdown of collagen by inhibiting MMP- 1 production.
usNeo is a naturally effective
deodorant and antibacterial active derived from the alpine lichen, Usnea barbata. It has both in vitro and in vivo claims data and has an excellent antibacterial profile against those microorganisms known to cause body odour, while preserving normal skin flora.
Sereniks is a patent-pending active, based on Canadian Tsuga canadensis with clinically proven efficacy against photo- ageing and inflammation. It mimics the balancing and protecting activity of the plant and its ability to shield the skin from damage caused by the sun.
Also highlighted will be Swiss Alpine
Herbs to extend the Ecoverte range. These herbs are produced from plants grown on the mountain slopes of the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. Indena is presenting Centevita, a purified dry extract obtained from Centella asiatica, a perennial, polymorphous, creeping herbaceous plant belonging to the Apiaceae (Umbrelliferae) family. The extract is a food grade ingredient (solvent and contaminant), the only solvents used being water and ethanol, its content is composed by almost 45% of
